CONCEPT ENGINNERING

Overview

The concept engineering covers mainly the gathering of Project requirements, clients wishes and project boundery conditions. Its results will be a Plant (process) concept, operating concept, an arrangement concept, a building concept, an electrical, a mechanical and a control concept.
Further on an erection and commissioning concept.
The following main activities will be expolited during this phase:

Requirements definition

In this phase EasyEnergy will collect all technical information available as well as those from the different studies and reports.

Safety concept

If in the above requirements definition safety issues and/or proofs for permits or other purposes show up, the corresponding concept shall be spelled out and formulated as an engineering input.

Availability and/or reliability concept

If in the above requirements definition availability or reliability issues and/or proofs for permits or other purposes show up, the corresponding concept shall be spelled out and formulated as an engineering input.

Thermodynamic calculation

This helps to formulate the raw performance requirements to be achieved and helps also to define what measures will have to be requested to be sure that the plant achieves the contractual (performance) values.

Plant (Process definition) concept

With the above two input series a concept what the plant does and how it shall function will be written.

Operating concept

The concept shall specify how the plant shall be operated. But it specifies also automation degrees  and manforces.

Arrangement concept (Layout)

With the above two concepts and other information from feasibility studies, permits and purchase agreements a Layout can be elaborated. This will be used as a specification aid for the basic engineering as well as for the following concepts

Building concept

Mainly for the civil engineering the requirements as steel or concrete, over had or underground, gravel, asphalt or concrete paving shall be defined.

Electrical concept

This specifies the way that the electrical system shall be realized. Voltage levels and single line diagrams will be specified in a general way. General solutions as cables or busbars shall be specified.

Mechanical concept

This specifies the way that the mechanical systems shall be realized. pressure levels and piping diagrams will be specified in a general way. General solutions redundancies (2 x 100% or 3 x 50%) etc shall be specified

Control Concept

This specifies the way that complete plant shall be controlled. The logical structure at the highest (plant) level will be specified in a general way.

Erection concept

A sorrow plan shall be elaborated detailing al requirements to be implemented in order to guarantee a smooth, easy, safe and cost effective erection. EasyEnergy will endavour to assure in the above concepts that the prerequisits for the errection (space for mobile cranes or fixed overhead cranes at the right time)shall be met. For this reason it is also possible that this concept can be made as late as in the engineering phase.

Commissioning concept

A sorrow plan shall be elaborated detailing al requirements to be implemented in order to guarantee a smooth, easy, safe and cost effective commissioning. EasyEnergy will endavour to assure in the above concepts that the prerequisits for the comissioning (erection completed as far as necessary, all utilities connected and ready)shall be met. For this reason it is also possible that this concept can be made as late as in the engineering phase.

PAC concept

If performance guarantees shall be verified, a plan detailing the values to be measured and methods as well as operating points shall be selected. EasyEnergy will endavour to assure in the above concepts that the prerequisits for the Acceptance test (accessibility of measurement points for temporary equipment, accuracy of field instruments etc)shall be met. For this reason it is also possible that this concept can be made as late as in the engineering phase.

Activities

The following main activities are exploited:
  • Information gathering: site assessment and interaction with electrical, mechanical and control engineers of the plant.
  • Review and comment on existing documents to validate the main components selected;
  • Define applicable norms and laws;
  • Rough performances calculations;
  • Technical evaluation and correlation of the information;
  • Concept freeze.

Deliverables (preliminary)

The following document will be deliverable (all documents in this phase are preliminaries):
  • Document list;
  • Progress reports;
  • Project Planning;
  • Interface coordination;
  • Process/design calculation;
  • Process drawings (PFD);
  • Electrical drawing (single line diagram);
  • Mechanical Layout;
  • Overall operation concept;
  • Erection and commissioning concept;
  • Plant Cost assessment (± 20/25%).
